Fort Lauderdale attorney Michele Kane Cummings will take office July 1 as first vice president of The Florida Bar Foundation, a statewide charitable organization that fosters law-related public service programs on behalf of Florida’s legal profession.
Cummings, who received her juris doctor from Nova Southeastern Law School and a master’s degree in counseling from Barry University, heads the family law practice group at Ruden McClosky.
She serves as a representative to the American Bar Association House of Delegates and has served on the executive council of the Family Law Section of The Florida Bar. She also previously served as chair of the Judicial Nominating Commission of the 17th Judicial Circuit and as president of the South Broward Bar Association and of the Nova Law Alumni Association.
A former member of the Board of Governors of The Florida Bar, Cummings chaired the board's communications, access, and program evaluation committees, and was a member of the executive committee. She also has served as Board of Governors liaison to the Family Law Section of The Florida Bar. She is also a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.
A Fellow of The Florida Bar Foundation, Cummings serves on the Foundation’s executive, budget and finance, grant program, and development committees. She has been a member of the board since 2002.
