Attorney Douglas M. Halsey appointed to Florida Bar Foundation board

ORLANDO — Douglas M. Halsey, a partner in the Miami office of White & Case LLP, has been appointed to the board of The Florida Bar Foundation, a statewide nonprofit organization
that works to expand access to justice for the poor.

Halsey, who earned his bachelor’s degree from Columbia University and his law degree from the University of Miami, practices environmental and land use litigation. He is a former chairman of the Bar’s environment and land use law section.

For over twenty five years, Halsey has represented foster children in Florida, and has played a lead role in securing therapeutic services for emotionally disturbed and developmentally disabled children in foster care.

He is a past chairman of the Children’s Home Society of Florida, a founder of Foster Care Review, and a former board member of Our Kids of Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties.

A fellow of the American Bar Foundation and the Florida Bar Foundation, Halsey is a past recipient of the Florida Bar President’s Pro Bono Service Award.

Halsey's one-year term on the Foundation board will begin July 1.
