ORLANDO -- As Florida Bar president-elect, Mayanne Downs will serve on the board of directors of The Florida Bar Foundation, a statewide nonprofit organization that funds Legal Aid, as well as programs to improve Florida’s justice system and encourage law students and young lawyers to pursue public interest careers.
A shareholder with King, Blackwell, Downs & Zehnder, P.A. in Orlando, Downs practices civil, trial, appellate and domestic relations law. She is also the city attorney for the City of Orlando.
She earned her bachelor’s and juris doctors degree from the University of Florida.
As past president of the Orange County Bar Association and The Legal Aid Society of the Orange County Bar Association, Downs is committed to law-related community service in Orlando. She is also a current member of The Florida Bar Board of Governors.
Downs, whose term on the board begins July 1, is also a Fellow of The Florida Bar Foundation.
