Your Support for the Mission is Vital
The mission of The Florida Bar Foundation is to provide greater access to justice for those least able to afford an attorney. By becoming a Florida Bar Foundation Fellow, making a Planned Gift, or providing ongoing financial support, you can make an impact in one or more of the Foundation's three grantmaking areas:
Legal Assistance for the Poor
The Florida Bar Foundation provides about a third of the total funding for Legal Aid organizations throughout Florida – funding that enables legal aid and pro bono attorneys to help Floridians who have nowhere else to turn when they are facing domestic violence, unlawful evictions, scams such as mortgage fraud, or denial of child support or public benefits to which they are entitled. The Foundation’s support for Legal Aid includes programs designed to help recruit and retain a quality workforce of attorneys to provide public interest legal representation for Florida’s poor. Your gifts can support legal assistance for the poor generally, or can be directed specifically to the Children's Legal Services Grant Program, which is the beneficiary of 100 percent of all donations to the Lawyers' Challenge for Children.
Improvements in the Administration of Justice
The Foundation also funds projects designed to make the court system operate more efficiently and effectively, reform the civil, criminal and juvenile justice systems, and educate the public about the law and the importance of public interest legal representation. Through its Improvements in the Administration of Justice grants, the Foundation helps the courts, bar associations and other groups test ways to make the justice system more responsive to the people it has pledged to serve, from improving the collection of child-support payments to reducing juvenile delinquency or establishing a dispute resolution center.
Law Student Assistance
Through public service and summer fellowships for law students, the Foundation helps cultivate the next generation of public interest and pro bono attorneys.
You Can Make a Difference
Although funds from Florida’s Interest on Trust Accounts Program support the Foundation’s mission, the need still far outstrips the capacity of legal services programs. Working together we can do more to enhance the Foundation’s mission and meet the legal needs of the state’s most vulnerable populations.
Your gifts can support current programs or can be added to The Florida Bar Foundation Endowment Trust as a permanent source of support for Foundation programs.
Florida lawyers – and the broader public – consistently demonstrate their sense of responsibility to care for those in need and their belief in the value of fairness in our justice system. We invite you to support the work of the Foundation and make your investment in access to justice.
